Confirm How Much You Should Draw into Your Syringe

How to store your medication

Storage requirements can vary depending on the specific medication or compounding pharmacy. If your medication arrives with instructions from the pharmacy, please follow those.

If no instructions are provided, follow Trava’s general storage guidelines below.

  • Keep the medication refrigerated at a temperature between 36°F and 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
  • Do not freeze the medication.
  • After opening, refer to the Beyond Use Date (BUD) listed on your medication label.
  • Discard any remaining medication once this date has passed, even if some is left in the vial.
  • Protect vials from light. If your refrigerator has an interior light that stays on, store vials in a non-transparent (opaque) container to block light exposure.
  • Handle vials and syringes carefully, as they are fragile and may break or cause injury if mishandled.
  • Keep all medications and related supplies out of reach of children.

⚠️ Important: Only prepare your injection immediately before use. Do not pre-fill syringes in advance.

What is concentration?

Concentration refers to how much active medication (measured in milligrams, mg) is contained in each milliliter (mL) of liquid in your vial.

Because compounding pharmacies may prepare medications at different concentrations, the same prescribed dose can sometimes result in a different liquid volume depending on how it was mixed.

But don’t worry—you don’t need to calculate this yourself. Simply follow the dosing instructions and unit amounts shown on your vial label or in your Trava patient portal prescription. Those numbers are what matter for accurate dosing.

Additives in Compounded GLP-1 Medications

Compounding pharmacies may include additional ingredients—called additives—when preparing GLP-1 medications. These additives are safe and serve important purposes, such as:

  • Improving stability: Helps maintain the medication’s effectiveness over time.

  • Enhancing comfort: Reduces potential discomfort during injections.

  • Providing extra benefits: Some pharmacies include nutrients like Vitamin B12, which may give the medication a light reddish tint.

💡 Good to know: These additives do not affect the effectiveness of your GLP-1 medication for weight management.
